The weekend in Breidt
Last weekend (07/10/2006), I went visiting Mailin’s parents in Germany – Ms. Mailin is a friend, who works together with my Dad. Her parents live in a small village named Breidt which locates in the neighbourhood of Koln. Spending the whole weekend there, Mom and Dad had a great chance to taste various special German foods cooked by Mailin’s mother. They even had a breakfast with pretzel – a traditional bread of Germany on Sunday morning. All the foods were very delicious, however, it was a bit pity for me that I was not yet able to eat them. Therefore, Mailin’s mother bought a bottle of yoghurt for me so that I could have a dessert together with the whole family. The mother of Mailin was also willing to take care of me while Mom, Dad and Mailin went out for shopping. I was very much enjoying to stay in such a large house with a warm welcoming family. Saturday night was the first time I slept in the same bed with Mom. Everything went well, I did not relise any difference at all.
Sunday’s morning, Mailin’s father offered us for a walk around his village. The village is small, quiet with great conveniences as a church, a football stadium, a bar and a kindergarten. Villagers have already been abandoned their farming for a long time. Most of them work outside. It seemed to me that every villager knew each other. Mailin was brought up in the village, therefore she has a lot of friends there. In Sunday morning, two of her friends also came to have breakfast toghether with us.
Sunday’s afternoon, Mailin’s father took us, Mailin and Katya (the girlfriend of Erik – Mailin’s brother) to a golf club. I was very much enjoying kicking stones with Mailin and Katya. Dad was enjoying playing golf. And Mom was taking photos and filming around. All of us were very enjoying the time being there. Thanks Mailin’s parents, Erik and Katya and specialy Mailin for giving us that nice weekend in a rural area of Germany. We will never forget.
